We are so excited to have everyone back at school! This also means the congested traffic around our school at drop off and pick up time is also back.
A great way to be part of the solution to this issue is to actively travel to school. It would be wonderful if you could travel actively every day, however if that isn't possible let's just try for one day, Wednesday! The class with the most active travellers will win the trophy for the week as well as some great prizes to be used at school.
Some helpful tips are outlined below:-
- You know all those bike rides and family walks you've been doing during isolation – don't stop now! Keep the momentum going by riding, scooting or walking to school. If you haven't actively travelled to school before, now is the perfect time to start travelling the route. The roads are quieter and the cooler autumn weather makes outdoor exercise much more enjoyable.
- An active school commute is a great way to reconnect with your community (from a safe distance of course!) after so much time spent indoors. Pay attention to the neighbourhood as you walk, scoot or ride through the streets – what's changed since you were last there? Be sure to send a friendly smile or wave to people you see on your way!
- If you choose to drive, avoid congested drop off/pick up points and help maintain a 1.5m social distance by taking part in a park and stride. Park the car a 10 minute walk away from the school and walk the rest of the way.
