Instrumental Music – lessons and ensembles are cancelled for the remainder of this week.

Before School Sports – training for Touch Football, Cross Country, Gymnastics and Sporting Schools AFL is cancelled for the remainder of this week.

Tuckshop – is closed until further notice. Ensure you send your child/ren to school with food for 1st and 2nd breaks. We will let our school community know when the Tuckshop is reopen for service.

Wishart Outside School Hours Care (WOSHC) – is operational for before and after school care commencing tomorrow, Wednesday 12 March.

Please keep an eye out for their communications and ensure you arrange alternate arrangements to collect your child/ren at the conclusion of the school day if activities are cancelled.

Safety assessments

All required safety and risk assessments have been conducted and I can confirm it is safe for students and staff to attend our school.  I am pleased to advise that all of our classroom facilities have been returned to normal operations.

In some areas of the school, minor repairs are still underway. I would appreciate you reminding your children to stay away from areas that are fenced off or out of bounds while these repairs are completed.

Student absences

Please be mindful that some of our local roads and access to our school may be affected. If this weather event poses a danger to your child travelling to school, please notify the school of your child’s absence as soon as possible. Absences can be advised via QParents, email to absence@wishartss.eq.edu.au or by telephone to our Absence Line on 3849 0560, noting ‘severe weather’ as the reason.

Absences due to emergencies and natural disasters will not be recorded on a student’s report card.

Uniforms and other equipment

We appreciate that some families may have lost school uniforms and other equipment. Students are able to wear casual clothes to school, however they must wear covered shoes and sun-safe clothing. If you need assistance with replacement uniforms or stationery, please let us know.

Transport services

If your child catches a bus or train to school, please check with your local transport service provider to confirm if their services will be operational tomorrow.

Monitoring the situation Disaster Queensland has important information for those affected by this weather event including grants and council dashboards. If you need immediate help, call Triple Zero (000) and remember, if it’s flooded, forget it.

Health and wellbeing

It is incredibly important that you take time to look after yourselves and your families. I encourage you to access the information available for parents and students to support health and wellbeing during these difficult circumstances.

Thank you for your ongoing support and I look forward to seeing our wonderful students at school tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Dr Ray Bloxham

Principal
