COVID-19 Update
Dear parents and caregivers,
Thank you for your ongoing support for our school community as we work together to respond to the changing COVID-19 situation.
Over the past few days school staff, families and students have quickly responded to act on the advice of Queensland Health and the Chief Health Officer to minimise movement across the 11 locked down Local Government Areas.
For our school community this has included moving to remote learning for the majority of our students, while remaining open for children of essential workers and vulnerable children.
Following updated health advice, from today 4 August 2021, we are reducing the number of staff on our school site to minimise transmission and further protect the health and safety of our school community.
If you are an essential worker or your child is vulnerable and needs to attend school this week, we remain open.
Essential workers are only those that absolutely must continue to attend their workplace during this difficult time. The Department of Education has asked all parents to consider the Chief Health Officer's advice and stay home with your children if you can.
If you are an essential worker and need to send your child to school you must ensure your child is well and not displaying any signs of illness.
Your child's teachers will continue to engage students with remote learning and I would like to thank you for your help, support and encouragement.
If you would like to support your child's learning you can also visit the Department of Education's learning@home website. This site contains a range of student learning material and other high-quality education websites.
Further information on supporting your child, maintaining healthy learning routines and setting up a learning space at home can be found at https://education.qld.gov.au/curriculum/learning-at-home/wellbeing-of-students
I realise the latest developments may create challenges for families, please be assured these decisions have been taken as a necessary response to the evolving COVID-19 situation.
The Department of Education will continue to keep all principals up-to-date with any further changes to schooling over the coming days and I will continue to provide parents with this information as it becomes available. Further information for parents, including Questions and Answers has been developed by the Department of Education and can be found here.
I encourage you to stay informed of the latest health developments relating to COVID-19 by regularly visiting the Queensland Government website
Thank you for your understanding as we continue to work together to support and educate your children during this difficult and unprecedented time.
Yours sincerely,
Yolanda Tognini
