Harmony Week is held each year in March. It's a time to celebrate our cultural diversity and a time to reflect on the importance of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the World. The message of Harmony Week is everyone belongs. Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.
Wishart State School is a culturally vibrant school and we look forward to celebrating Harmony Week this year. On Tuesday 23rd March, Wishart State School will celebrate Harmony Day. In 2021, our Harmony Day Assembly will be a virtual one and will be viewed on Tuesday 23rd March.
On this day, students are invited to wear traditional/cultural dress or orange clothing to school to show support for cultural diversity. Teachers will be completing a range of Harmony Week activities with their class with some multicultural stories and games/activities occurring at break times as well.
